I learned to fly long before GPS was invented and I still know how to plan a flight on paper with a sectional and I would still be comfortable doing it without GPS, but it has been a few years since I have done it. Currently I have Ifly GPS on my tablet so I have legal sectionals and approach

I have to second what DJ and Doran said.? I don't remember the last time I planned on paper.? If I am planning a significant cross country flight (meaning half the continenent or more), I'll keep an eye on the weather forecast via ADDS Weather, then do my preflight planning on Skyvector.?
