At approximately 12:40 PM Central time today, N886MJ again broke the surly
bonds of earth. It had been a long winter as she sat in a cold dark hanger
since September 2009 waiting for major surgery to be performed on her engine.
Her engine, after destroying it's second cam gear, was given to Roy

After almost two full months since my crank breakage, "Six Mike Juliet" flew
again this morning with the new Dan Weseman fifth bearing installed. I was at
about 200 feet off the ground when my mind said to me "wow, this engine has
never been this smooth on climb out". Then at 500 feet I made a

I finished the installation of my engine on January 1st after removing it from
the plane and installing a new distributor, oil pump and rear case. The engine
ran flawlessly on Jan 1st when I did the static test runs. The weather here was
perfect all week for flying but unfortunately, I had to

Well I said I didn't know anything about the 12 but the canopy is one thing
I did look at compared to the 601. The 601 canopy is a disaster waiting
I looked at the Vans Light Sport # 12 or whatever it is at Oshkosh this year.
They have designed it to use pulled rivets like the Zodiacs have been doing for
years, this should be more easy to build than bucked rivets.
My first impression was that it looks like a copy of the Zodiac except I
My KR-2S first flew 21 Sep 05. The flight was brief (about 30 Minutes) due to
oil temp problems. My first landing was very likely the best due to the
information Jim Faughn shared with all of us. Many thanks to him and others
who have provided useful information.

Mark,
Well, I thought I would never live to see that day. I was ready to
instruct my 3-year old son to watch that space, in his adulthood for Mark
L.'s first flight ;-).
That plane looks very impressive (although we all know it will take you a
further 12 years to consider it complete!), and

Absolutely the best hands available, and I probably owe him my life for
doing it for me.

I stuck that on about two minutes before he taxiied away in it. Most

This happened to me on my first flight. The GPS certainly helped but beware
of update rates and remember that it requires lack of wind ie., ground speed
equals airspeed.

I wish it WAS right, but it's good enough for now! There are a lot of rough
