My Great Plains 2180 has 774 hours on the bottom and 484 hours on the top and has proven very durable, smooth and completely free of hassles. No leaks. No problems. A valve spring recently broke. Two actually, it turns out. Pretty rare event. I'm replacing with German springs - the ones that

Ron, Hundreds of KR's have been completed with virtually no "factory" support at all. It's one of the reasons KRnet exists. For the most part, WE are the "factory" support, since we are the closest thing you'll come to a KR "factory". Steve is doing a lot towards getting all the fragmented

I am convinced that EMPI is the reason that I have junked 2 sets of heads. The ones that I put on, on this last re-build, are genuine VW. Well, as genuine as you can get these days. I think the EMPI are OK, on the heads with the stock size valves, but are not, on the 2180 with the oversize

Gunnar, You can't go wrong with the Great Planes 2180 VW from Steve Bennett. I have 210 hours on mine since new and still no problems to date that I can attribute to the engine quality. One thing to consider is that the KR2S needs 180- 200Lbs up front to balance properly with the longer tail (
