off the canopy from the supplier?. Been sitting for a while on the plane and
now it is time to remove it. Thanks "WG447"

2010-05-03 Thread Dave Dunwoodie
Thanks to everyone that helped me!

I bought some pants from Steve at Great Plains.

Now that they are here, I don't have a clue as to how to mount them!!!

Can any of you send me some closeup pics of how your pants are mounted?

Thanks,

KR> Trim Tabs

2010-05-03 Thread Dave Dunwoodie
In examining my KR2 for electric elevator trim, I was reminded to ask
you guys:

There is a 9" by 2.5" added trim tab on the starboard side of the
elevator, fixed and bent down at roughly 30 degrees.

Can anybody offer ideas why the builder would have done this?

Thanks.

Dave.

HI,
Would someone be willing to help verify a reasonable engine location for my
KR2s for a Jabiru 2200. Data is as follows:
Ref line - firewallFuselage levelTanks empty Nothing mounted forward of
firewallFirewall aft - all in place (seats, wings, canopy, turtle deck,
landing gear [conventional gear], tailTwo people in seats weighing 366 lbs
Look at rearward cg @ 15" behind leading edge. Understand allowable range
is 8" to 16".
Firewall to wing leading edge is 14.5"
Weight on mains is 615# 17.625" behind ref lineWeight on tailwheel is 138#
158.25" behind ref line
Estimated weight of engine, cowl, prop, mount, battery, etc. is 173#
Total estimated weight is 173+615+138 = 926#
Solve for D, the distance to the cg of engine, etc.
615x17,625 + 138x158.25 - 173D = 929x(14.5+15)10839.375 + 21838.5 - 27405.5
= 173D
D = 30.48"
Firewall to engine attach points will be 23".
The tank behind the firewall holds 10 gallons. The 8" dia al wink tanks
(formed to a d shape) are mounted directly behind front spar.

Lee,

Ask the question on the flypreceptor yahoo group.  I have seen discussions

KR> 3733 v 7533 fiberglass

2010-05-03 Thread jg7...@mindspring.com
Thanks for the info Larry. The specs on the fabric come from the
manufacturer, I like the 3733 better than the 7533 it's easier to work with
a little harder to wet out but I'll take that trade off.

for KR purposes woven cloth is fine. If the one supplier is correct in
their evaluation, I might take the flat weave over the twisted weave. Just
my opinion.

KR> Rotisserie

2010-05-03 Thread smwood
I just finished installing the plumbing for the fuel tank selector and boost
pump in the cockpit. Getting the 3/8-inch tubing flaired and bent just so
was definitely an education. The biggest problem was bending over the
cockpit sides; I wonder if I have done some permanent damage to my back.
In the working smarter, not harder category: Would the 2180 VW crank shaft
and prop flange sustain any damage while serving as a pivot for a fuselage
rotisserie? The tail end of the fuselage would attach to the second pivot
at the tail spring. Without wings being attached, the fuselage could be
held at 90 degrees rotation for systems installations while I stood straight
and tall.

It did not sound like a VW.
