Hi Dene,as a S African ,let me tell you how I did mine.I learned this method when I built my sailplane many years ago and used the same method on my KR 2 S.My sailplane spars are three times the thickness of a KR and the drilling was done with standard length drill bits.using two and a jig.The

Hi Guys I was just wondering what type of drill bits you guys were using to drill the bolt holes through the spar for the waf's mounting bolts. Do you use a normal twist drill as for steel work or do you use the woodworking spade type . I havn't seen an extra long twist drills here anywhere so was

Hi Dene,the correct imperial dia drill bits are obtainable in S Africa from Engineering supply stores,not the local hardware stores.You dont need long bits as two standard size bits are used.using a simple jig and drilling from opposite sides to get a perfect match through the spar and WAFS on
