Not sure why unless any side motion of the rear fuselage blanks out part of the horizontal / elevator. Your results may vary. Also, when flight testing your first side slips, don't "stab" rudder like you're flying a Cessna. Enter the maneuver with caution until you know what reaction you get. I did my first side slip (at altitude) like I flew the Tripacer and threw stuff up off the seat. Be gentle, you're flying a sports car, not a dump truck. :-) Larry Flesner ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search. Stall strips are usually added to ensure that the inboard portion of the wing stall first - before the outboard portion. With the ailerons on the outboard portion of the wing are stalled, there is no longitudinal control and no way to prevent rolling. The KR2 and other modern designs have washout build into the wings which obviates the need for stall strips. Dave McCauley ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search. Craig Williams wrote: > Has anyone added a stall strip to the leading edge of the stub wing like on the Grumman Yankee? Why did they add a stall strip? Usually that's to fix some disorder with stall behavior. The Swift has those, but there's a reason for it (gear doors) that doesn't exist on most other planes. The funny thing about the Swift is that somebody taped some tubing to the wing to see what would happen, and something very much like it became an AD later. But to answer your question, I don't know of anybody that ever done that. The KR stall characteristics are pretty straight forward. The way N891JF rattles and vibrates, you'd have to be an idiot to not know that a stall was coming Mark Langford m...@n56ml.com http://www.n56ml.com ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search.
