Hi guys and girls; 



Well that was a simple fix. The push/pull cable was mis-labeled. It said
pull for heat and should have been push for heat. New label and everything
is fine now.



Now for the EGT gauge next.

unsure what he flys in his KR2 now. Maybe someone else knows more on this.

I am currently building a 2S with an EA-82 with a belt redrive. I will
be taking cabin heat off of the exhaust side of my radiator. I am just
getting into the engine tear down and redrive fabrication so I still
have a way to go.

Another solution would be to wear a mask that takes the moisture
from your breath but then how cool would that be

You could use a jet helmet and mask, like many of the single seat pilots , 
then you could really go out and buzz all the RV's as you shoot past them 
making all those machine gun noises.

I don't get much airflow in my cockpit except for a slight leak at the
peak of the gullwing door.  My problem , I think, is my age.  Setting
in 25 to 30 F air for 30 to 45 minutes causes my feet and hands
to start getting a bit chilled.  The only thing I have left to do to finish
my cabin heat is to put on an exhaust muff and run a hose to the
firewall.  Like your paint job, I'll get to it some day.  Maybe an occasional
barrel roll or loop would get my heart pumping more blood to my
extremities.  :-)

inside?  My arms are not long enough to wipe the screen. A defroster looks 
like a practical solution to the cab heat discussion.

Extended use of a defroster (like forgetting to shut it off once airborn)
will cause crazing of the canopy where the hot air hits it.  I mop the
inside of the canopy with a paper towel until takeoff.  Once airborn, the
condensation stops.

While NM isn't known for being particularly cold, high in the mountains
where I live it's as cold as the midwest where I grew up (Iowa).  I
didn't install a heat exchanger in my KR until the third winter I had it.
 Sunshine on the canopy was sufficient to keep me warm.  When I was
flying away from the sun, it got cold in a hurry, which is why I
eventually added the heat exchanger.  Kind of hard to always avoid flying
away from thge sun. :o)

I usually get condensation on the windows right after startup and taxi
out .  Then for some reason it seems to clear when I bring up the
rpm (mag check) and while flying.  I don't know if it's the increased
airflow over the windows or cabin air leakage.   Whatever, it doesn't
seem to be a problem for me.

Another solution would be to wear a mask that takes the moisture
from your breath but then how cool would that be

Bill Clapp will probably chime in on this, but since he got crazy last 
winter and flew up to Wisconsin and everywhere else at the colded part of 
the season, he also found the need for a defroster.  He used a vent from an 
old Volkswagen (sort of triangular shapes with a hose connection on one end, 
like a small vacuum cleaner attachment) to divert some air up to his canopy. 
I'm thinking about making something like that out of aluminum for my cabin 
heat inlet (plastic would melt immediately as hot as this thing is).  As it 
is, I have a pretty hot stream of air aimed right at my hand on the stick, 
which certainly keeps my hands warm, but the passenger's still chilly.  So 
I'll make some kind of diffuser that spreads the joy around.

Beware of carbon monoxide when doing that 

When testing your flaps, do a complete landing sequence
at altitude with turns, power changes, speed changes, etc. and
take it down to a full stall.  Make sure to try some flaps up stalls
first so there are no surprises.  You can't wear that "Test Pilot"
patch if you're going to be a woos about it. :-)

I'm kind of new, however the subject of cabin heat has not come up in any of 
the literature I've gone through. I saw a 
portable heater at a truck stop that plugs into a cigarette
lighter for around 40 dollars. Not sure it is safe. any heat
available in the KR.

so we are going to do it sort of VWish, coming off the exhaust.

No, as far as I know, there is no plan anywhere for this. The best plans you
will get for cockpit, instrument panel, and Firewall forward, will come off
this KR-Net.
