If I try to remove libgstreamer0.10-0package I get a dependency error.
(broken packages):
kmplayer-base: Depends: libgstreamer0.10-0 (= 0.10.4)
is this happening only on my pc?

kmplayer depends on gstreamer 0.10 and the default media engine in kubuntu is
xine
The point I'm trying to make is that I think it would be better if this
package used by default xine engine without forcing to install the
gstreamer packages. That way a default kubuntu install will have fewer
redundant packages (gstreamer and xine give similar functionality.)
