For some reason when akonadi was compiled against Qt 5.7.1, the sqlite
backend did not get compiled. This lead to dh_install error and required
the following workaround:

As mentioned in my comment above, it turned out that the bug needs both
Qt 5.1 and QtCreator 2.8. Qt 5.1 was aimed to have in Ubuntu already but
because of some regressions on Unity8 on device it was postponed a bit.
If wanted, Qt 5.1 is usable on desktop by adding ppa:canonical-
,
qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu gets installed but because it now Recommends:
ubuntu-sdk, also the full SDK is installed.

Having the need to install it on a new machine I noticed Unity Dash on
the desktop doesn't consider Ubuntu SDK as an available application. I
can only see QtCreator and it won't pull in the Ubuntu components plugin
either.

Can you check the output of following commands:
dpkg -l ubuntu-sdk
dpkg -l libqt5scripttools5
In the screenshot the plugin complains about missing
libQt5ScriptTools.so.5. I'm not getting that on my saucy installation,
and I'm also using the saucy archives version of the SDK. If I try to
remove
I don't know the details of how SC works / gets the list of installable apps,
but something in this equation probably matters:
- qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu is the package that ships ubuntu-sdk.desktop (name
Ubuntu SDK, executes qtcreator)
- qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu, even if it would be installable,
