Hi everyone
A quick and clean way to keep thread tidy is to wrap a paper around the
spool and tape snugly - I needed to do this, this afternoon when a wiry
thread whiffled off its spool annoyingly. I wasn't at home or I would have
put a narrow piece of clear self-sealing plastic food wrap around it
They are available at sewing machine stores, esp. ones that sell sergers.

Gentle Spiders,
Following the panic earlier this year, when I wrote about my
step-grandson's sudden and life-threatening illness, several of you
have asked for updates. Here's straight from the horse's mouth - his
father (apologies for posting on lace, and I won't do it again)

Hi Sue,
I had to look what was meant by bendable threads as I hadn't had any trouble
bending my thread. :-) Now I can see that you meant blendable. I wonder if
Brenda has these in her next version 3 book? I can see she will spend the rest
of her life bringing out updates. :-)

Hi All,
I tend also to keep my threads in plastic bags, but I obtain mine - free and
for gratis - from my friendly Bankers! The coin bags are ideal for storing
threads - they close by tucking the extended flap in first, and then folding
over the placket bit at the front. They are disfigured by

This is an integral part of this method which Pat sometimes refers to as
'fully-fashioned shaping'
I've been reading the instructions and hints on
scrolling the Milanese/duchesse method with great
interest, and thanks to all providing them. I too
hope to do better next time I try - I seem to get a
series of holes just inside the outside edge, which I
don't like in a naturalistic pattern. I ten
