Wow, that is quite an achievement, Alice! Congratulations. What pattern did you
use?
I have to admit that I have never seen these Arachne member photos again. Does
anyone know whether it's possible for me to have my picture added?
Best wishes,
Avital

The pattern of my edging is from Liisa Eeva
Kortelahti. I think it's in Bobbin Lace. It takes
five or more pages of the book to give the various
sections of the pattern so it should be easy to find.
It comes with two different corner patterns. It's
name means Giant Bellflower. I loaned my book
Well done Alice and a lovely piece, I just took a peek at the picture you
mentioned, also got to see some of the faces that go with the names I have
spoken with via Arachne:-)

A while back there was some discussion on laminating lace could anyone tell
me what the consensus was?
I have just taken a Bucks Point bookmark off the pillow, I shall be giving
it to my old schoolteacher and thought that laminating would be the better
option for her use. She is 91 years old,
Hello Ann-Marie,
I followed the link to your webshots, and looked through your folder
of bobbin lace. I enjoyed your pictures, what beautiful laces you
have made!
I have a question, though, about the 2 pictures named Easter Lady.
Can you tell me about them? They look to me like they are

No, though it is a tablecloth pattern. It would take
much more than three yards for a tablecloth and I'd
never see it finished. G I just made a straight
Diana,
Why not use one of those clear plastic bookmark holders that all the general

Me too, although I did get one laminated, I use it and wouldn't give it
away. I do laminate pages to keep sample pieces clean and safe in my folder

Last Saturday, at Poole Bobbin Lace Circle meeting, Thelma Johns, an expert
on Dorset buttons gave us a talk on their history and a demonstration of
their construction. We also had a chance to have a go at making one.
She didn't mention Bird's eye buttons, but searching for more information on
Hello Jean,
I've just got in from our lace class at Broadstone and am catching up with
the e-mails. I've got both these books, Jean. Very good they are too. The
author is Marion Howitt, who was taught by Thelma Johns. Birds Eye buttons
are very easy to make. I wonder if the Dorset ones are the

IIRC the consensus was lamination is 'iffy' - for some the results
were disappointing and couldn't be undone without ruining the lace.
