It’s true that the Met made many images available to the public in recent
years, but those that still have copyright limitations generally come from
restrictions put in place by the donor or the artist. However, it’s my
understanding
If you follow Brian's link to the Met Bobbins, once you get there, if you
click on the bobbin image, it will take you to a little more information. For
the inscribed bobbins, under "Signatures, Inscriptions, and Markings" it will
list the words on the bobbins. Then you can refer to Brian's work
