What is used to hold fields/backgrounds/foundations when motifs/medallions are
applied afterwards (vs. the fields being worked with the motifs)?
I don't see the hinge someone else did, but it is propped or askew, so could

There's a lacemaking item on ebay, which I haven't seen before - a pair of
lacemaking dividers. I realise that bobbin lace isn't the only type of
lacemaking, but I can't work out how it would be used, if it is indeed for
lacemaking of some kind.
