I did a roaring trade in crochet lace dresses in the late 60s in my
off-work hours. Just about all my friends and acquaintances below the age of
about 28 wore them and I was the only one able to crochet. They had a
choice of long or short sleeves or sleeveless; they chose the stitch they
I did a knitted lace dress about that time, two colours of wool at the same
time and huge needles and a matching one for my tiny daughter:-)
I also was the only one in the family to learn to crochet and made cardigan
type jackets which were around until recently, so lasted a very long time.

I made a block pillow out of ethafoam planks from Hollister Metal
Edge, an
archival supply house...it's the dense kind that they use for
archival
storage...2.2 lbs/cubic foot. The pins go in easily and are held
firmly.
