Re: [lace] 20kt gold Binche
Oh my goodness, breathtaking, how beautiful and intricate. I haven't done wire lace (nor Binche) as such before - maybe that's my learning curve for 2015, I fancy trying something new. I do have some Flanders on a pillow that need unpacking from our move last year but haven't been courageous enough yet to touch it... Perhaps that is my project first. I am just putting finishing touches to my exchange card and then it will go in the post :-) Take care all x x Celia Mulhearn, Somerset UK Sent from my iPad On 4 Dec 2014, at 20:13, Lorelei Halley lhal...@bytemeusa.com wrote: Some Binche made from gold wire. - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. [lace] Heather Billington - Point Ground Lace book
I was reading the article in the latest OIDFA magazine on the point ground class at the Australia conference. The flower design shown is beautiful. Does anyone know where I can buy a copy of her book, which the article says she produced? I had hoped to find it on the OIDFA site, but donât see it there. Re: [lace] Heather Billington - Point Ground Lace book
For our non-OIDFA members: This appears to be a book titled Floral Emblems of Australia in Point Ground Lace, by Heather Billington, though neither full title or author are mentioned in the inquiry to Arachne. In the OIDFA article, a book is mentioned, but not the title! How is a lace author to sell her books without this critical information? I did some unsuccessful searches. One seemed to offer a download, but looked suspicious. Probably, the author does not know about it. Several entries ask for a review, so obviously do not have a copy of the book. Most surely, we will hear from someone in Australia. We all need to provide better public relations for our teacher-authors. Perhaps the Australian Lace Guild will step up to the plate and appoint someone to help with such inquiries? Yesterday I received two Christmas exchanges. Both were on handmade cards. Lorri Ferguson and Dawn Podsiad are both very creative people. I hope pictures were sent to Jenny so you all can see the torchon decorated Christmas ball and the bangle enclosed lace star. Each lace ornament is lovely Thank you so much. I'm proud to show them off at the next lace meeting and display them in my home. You'd have to contact Heather direct, Sue. I'll ring her tomorrow (she won't appreciate my phoning now - it's 4.30 am!) and double check, but last time we were talking, she handled the sales herself. Re: [lace] Heather Billington - Point Ground Lace book
All of Heather's pattern collections are relatively new productions, which she started compiling when I asked her to teach at a couple of Australian Guild conferences when the State of New South Wales was running the Guild. She offered the patterns to her students at those classes to give them follow up patterns after the classes.Heather prints and compiles them herself at home. They're not big books, nor commercially produced and printed like some others. She had no expectations of selling them beyond the local market and Heather doesn't have a website or other commercial outlet. I bought my copy directly from her at OIDFA. My copy is on a thumb drive which is packed up since I am in the middle of a re-model project. Maybe one of the Aussies will provide you with an addy. You can buy it directly from Heather Billington, Australian privacy laws prevent me from giving out her address and email to a wide speard group. However I shall forward the original email to her if that is OK Anna who is preparing for her husband's Caving Club Christmas Party (at our house in a couple of hours) in a sunny and hot Sydney This appears to be a book titled Floral Emblems of Australia in Point Ground Lace, by Heather Billington, though neither full title or author are mentioned in the inquiry to Arachne. - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Heather Billington - Point Ground Lace book
Hi, I have Heather Billington's book 'Floral Emblems of Australia in Point Ground Lace' sitting next to me so I offer a brief 'book review' on her excellent publication. It consists of 65 wonderful pages, spiral bound and in colour of superb patterns, prickings, working diagrams and coloured images of our Australian State flowers. The instructions are so easy to follow with basic techniques illustrated at the start of the book. Each pattern has an overall photograph of the finished piece with a close-up for further study. Can't remember how much I paid for this book but definitely an asset to any lacemakers' library. Cheers, Shirley T. - Adelaide, Australia with 25C max today but we are in desperate need of rain. [lace] Seasons Greetings to all.
I am off on 2 weeks holiday tomorrow, so would like to take this opportunity to wish the Seasons Greetings to everyone. How quickly this year has flown by, but an enjoyable Lace year - as usual!! I have just taken up Tatting again - after a few years break. Hmmm! Fingers are not as nimble as they used to be, - but I am sure I will get used to it again soon!! It is something small to take away with me, - besides some filet lace to work on while sitting in our small boat in the middle of a lake while DH does some fishing. My work is often more productive (but we don't mention that!! :) ) I will have the laptop with me, so can keep in touch! I need my daily Lace Fix (Arachne, Lace IOLI, and Needlelace Talk, as well as the Aussie lace chat group.!) I will also have my travel pillow with me - and a piece of Torchon on the go from Last Xmas holiday!!! All the Snail Mail will be held till we get home, so I will not be able to acknowledge my Card Exchange till almost Xmas. Sorry about that, to whoever I am paired with. [lace-chat] Son getting married
Dear spiders, Just wanted to announce that my son Binyamin (our only child) is getting married in 2 weeks, on Dec. 18! Yes, he and his bride are very young (both 21) but they've been together for 5 years and are very certain they want to do this. He has another year left in the army. Ayala, his fiancee, is studying industrial design.
