[lace] Plain Text/Bulletin/Exchange

2017-09-08 Thread Janice Blair
Devon,
Your personal email to the Digest came through fine, so I think the problem
must have been embedded in Jeri's email that you quoted.

Got my Summer Bulletin today and there is a long and amusing article by Devon
about Frisado needle lace which I sat down and read, all eight and half pages
of it. I love everything Devon writes and as my next trip starts in Barcelona
in two weeks time, I hope I find the food easier to digest that she did.

I also hope that some arrangement can be made for the Christmas exchange to go
ahead as usual. Susan put it well. I am sure that Lin did not mean to take
over. Maybe she and Janet can get together and work towards a mutual
arrangement. I will continue working on my exchange pieces and wait to see
what happens. Peace in Lacing.
Janice

Odp: [lace] 2017 Arachne Card Exchange

2017-09-08 Thread B Krbechek
Dear Lin,

At this point I think it would be wisest to remove my name from the

Christmas card exchange list this year. Among other things, cleaning

up after the August 11th wind storm here in Poland of which we were

in the center is more time consuming that I expected.

Thank you,

Blanche Krbechek

Wow, what a wonderful response so far with only two days yet to join
  in the

fun. I wish to thank those who have been responsive so far for your

participation. I hope more of you will join in the fun. There is
  nothing

like the sense of accomplishment for making a project complete. The
  card

exchange includes treasures to bring smiles to all who hang and/or
  fondly

admire them and share the pleasure of a gift from afar with those
  near.

Re: [lace] Mending fences for 2017 Arachne exchange

2017-09-08 Thread Jane Partridge
Historically it has always been this time of year when tensions have got
fraught on the list for one reason or another. Let's take a deep breath and
find out what the history is before reacting.

So far, I've seen Lin's posts about the exchange (I didn't sign up, I haven't
got enough time), and Daphne's pointed question about Janet not doing it. I
haven't seen anything from Janet herself, either on the reflected list or the
digest. It might be that Lin hasn't trodden on any toes and that Janet is happy
for her to do the massive task of organising it all, but unless we hear that
from Janet herself we won't know. Has anyone actually heard anything from her?

I designed a beginner cat pattern which is on my website. I posted the link on
Facebook on Bobbin Lace Makers and it has been really appreciated, so I
thought I would share the link here.

Go to jblace.com It is in the Pattern Gallery.

At this point Lin is not corresponding with me so finding a fair and
acceptable solution is proving difficult.

My suggestion is that each exchange has its own organiser.

To solve the immediate problem could a previous organiser step up and run
the 2017 card exchange if Lin is willing to hand it over?

If this is not what you want, please offer a viable solution.

Well said Susan - I agree with all you say. Please don't let it change
this wonderful friendship of lacemakers.

Arachne is such a caring, sharing group, I am totally gobsmacked. Please, let's not allow hurt

volunteers at all! Discord is corrosive & my worst fear is that Arachne members might choose
sides & the exchange could implode. Volunteers--can you put aside your differences & work
together? Will you work together in the spirit of the holiday season? Each of you brings unique
