I was thinking of asking for a bobbin winder for my birthday. What are the
pros and cons? What should I be looking for, what sort of price in the UK
and which suppliers sell them?

Hi all
thank you all for your suggestions about my sewings problem. I have taken
them all on board and am going to buy both a lazy Susan and a bigger
crochet hook and see how I get on.

Hi all
Returning to tape lace after a long time I am struggling with the sewings
and false plaits.
I've lost some of my manual dexterity due to illness and a crochet hook is
not working. I have what I think is called a needle pin and Bridget cook's
practical skills in lace book but I am
Hi everyone I don't think anyone has mentioned the children's book little
grey rabbit makes lace by Alison uttley. There is a pamphlet of prickings
inspired by the book but I'm not sure who wrote that.

Hi a while ago made a piece of floral bucks for a friend's significant
birthday. I was way out of my depth with only a minimal knowledge of bucks.
I gave myself two years as I was working full time. I first enlarged the
pricking and worked it in thicker thread using a ghost pillow and then

Hi all I remember a conversation a while ago about beginners patterns.
someone mentioned a website, I think, Alex Stillwell. I bookmarked it but
when my computer crashed I lost everything and I can't now find it.

my lace

Guild collection.
Thanks again , Alice

Hi
Did anyone else in the UK see Sunday night's episode of the Good Kama
Hospital? For those not in the UK this is a hospital drama set in in India.
The opening shots showed nuns making bobbin lace to be made into wedding
dresses.
Is this accurate, is lace still being made for sale in India
Hi

Dear Stormy
Thank you so much for my book mark, it is so pretty, and how did you know
that was my favourite colour?
It arrived earlier this afternoon. I would have emailed earlier but I felt
guilty that my one for you was less than half done. It's now just over half
done and hopefully
Hi everyone
This is a very interesting question. It occurred to me that the prevalence
of cookie shaped pillows in the UK might be because Honiton pillows are
cookie-like. Or is that just how modern Honiton pillows are shaped? I must
confess my ignorance about this, but I don't remember seeing

Hi all
At last I'm back on Arachne. I've been retired since April, you might
remember I mentioned I was going to retire. But problems with email which
meant that I had to change my email address, also the arrival of a new
grandson and a holiday means that I've only just got myself sorted out
