[lace] Bridal Handkerchief

2004-06-15 Thread Ron and Jeanne Vavruska
I want to thank everyone who sent me poems for the handkerchief. I tried to
thank everyone who e-mailed me privately but in case I missed anyone, thank
you all. The lace is almost finished and since the wedding is not until
July 15th, for once I will be finished ahead of time.

Like a lot of you I've had a search and this is all I found. It was sent to
Arachne on 14 Feb 1997 by Stormy Lee

When you walk down the aisle
  as all brides do
A hanky you'll need to
  carry with you.

So here is that hanky
  from my heart to your's
with all of life's blessings
  to open life's doors.

When you place that kiss
  upon his lips
that changes your name
  to Mrs from Miss

Then keep it among
  all those cherished, loved things
that remind you of happiness
  life surely brings.

[lace] Bridal Handkerchief

2004-06-13 Thread Ron and Jeanne Vavruska
A while ago, I asked if anyone had the poem for the bridal handkerchief
which will eventually be changed into a baby cap. I have the poem for the
baby cap and know there is the bridal poem out there somewhere. I had it
once for lost it in changing computers. My niece is getting married and I
am making the handkerchief. I never got an answer to my last request and am
making it again hoping that someone who did not see my request last time
will see it now. The wedding is fast approaching and the lace is almost
finished. Thanks in advance.

I have a poem for the other way around!

A tiny square of linen
And a dainty edge of lace
Designed into a bonnet
To frame your baby's face

After baby's worn it
Fold and tuck away
And it becomes a hanky
For baby's wedding day

Not a lot of help to you, I know, but it might be useful for someone else.

[lace] Bridal Handkerchief

I've had a bit of a search, but I can't find a poem for a handkerchief
for a bride, only for a christening.

Jeanne, when you posted last time, someone challenged me to make
one up, so this time I've had a go. I used the poem Jacquie just posted
as a starting point.

A dainty edge of snow white lace
A square of linen fine
It's made just for your wedding day
With hopes the sun will shine.

And after celebrations
Fold and store away
And it becomes a bonnet
For an infant's christening day.

Just fold a deep hem over
And gather on the fold
Some ribbons on the corner
Then its history can be told.

For it was carried on the day
When bub's mum became a wife
And it carried all the maker's hopes
For a happy wedded life

Then perhaps in many years to come
It can be used anew
To grace another wedding day
In the hope the sky is blue!

Lovely Noelene.
This is so beautiful..much nicer than the others I have read. As I am just
finishing a wedding hankie, I hope that I may use it also.
