through the middle where the ribbon would go to be most uncomfortable and
unsatisfactory. So the method I use is to slip stitch sheering
A tip I got from Vivienne (Biggins) was to use two lengths of elastic
(I used their narrow silver elastic for Lucy's garter which meant that
I didn't need to thread ribbon) and thread one length up and down
through the holes and the other length down and up through the same

hubbies pocket. When she wanted to loan it to one her bridesmaids for her
wedding we solved the problem by removing the top from an old 'stay up' type of
stocking (the type which don't need suspenders) and adding that

one of my friends at work - although she doesn't know it yet - and luckily
she is one of these stick insect types so I didn't have to
The holes in the garter are very small and will only take 4mm size elastic
and ribbon - and that's another story trying to find some decent ribbon of
that size so if you know of any good suppliers with a selection I'd love
to hear from you.
