What IS important to me is that you do not use our lace Flickr account as
personal storage for every picture you have. It is easy enough to set up your
own account if that is what you need. And unless you overload your own
account, it is free. But please do use the Arachne account
I have my own website for which I have to pay an annual fee to keep it running,
so have never had the necessity to use Flickr. However, I do know that some
who have used it in the past are now deceased and have been for some
considerable time, but their photos are still on Flickr! Is it only
Hello all,
like Susan (and I suppose many more) I wasn’t aware that cost for hosting the
pics was carried by a single member.
Thank you, Clay.
I guess you had first offers of reimbursement and I would add mine to that. I
just need to know who is able and willing to collect. If I give five
Thank you for bringing this to our attention Sue! And thank you Clay—I had no
clue you were underwriting our Arachne Flickr to this extent. We have all
benefited from your generosity!
Before I offer suggestions, what time frame are we working with here? The most

Thank you Sue and Clay for bringing this to our attention and making sure
this has been available to each member of the group. i personally am
prepared to donate $20 via PayPal towards the payment for 2019 to whomever
will host this continuance. it is a very valuable tool for our group and

Hi All
We need to put our collective thinking caps on. For many years now, Clay
Blackwell has been funding our Arachne Flickr site personally â apparently
since 2012. We have more photos (2674) stored there than can be stored on a
free Flickr account (1000).
There have been changes to the
Clay,
I wanted to reply to you privately but comcast hates my PC and will

I personally don't do Flickr at all and reckon it would all be far
simpler just to set up a closed group on Facebook where most of us
are already anyway. I am in half a dozen of so fo these groups
Is it possible to see pictures on Facebook without being a member? I am not a
member and would prefer not to join unless the group feels that Facebook is the
best solution.

David, one problem with Facebook is that not everyone subscribes, and many of
us who do only post very little. There is a lot of concern about how much
information is gathered and who can see it. A third concern is that after only
a short time, the picture you posted is *way* down the queue

Hi David and everyone else too: I agree that Facebnook would be so much
easier.
You post the photos on your own timeline, and anyone can see them. I have
already done this with a few photos of my lace.

Following on Jacquie's message about non-Facebook account holders, if it is
a closed group as David suggested I'm not sure that a non-member can see it.
It also needs a 'moderator' to admit new members, so someone would have to
take on that task. I'm already a member of a lacemaking group on
For my own 2¢ worth - i like that i can see additions to the Flickr site
in my Arachne emails. when a new photo is posted, i can look at it and
enjoy and dream. it makes it so wonderful. there are times when
discussion leaves me with - wish i could see this. but with a click of

Clay,
Having said that, there is no reason you couldn't set up a group as
you suggest, and see if it works! The Flickr account is still there
for those who like it.
I don't need to as there's already a number of Lace groups on
Facebook where I've been putting my pictures. The one I
The issue with Facebook is this:
- a closed group restricts access to the pages so that only those people
subscribed to the page and give access by the chosen moderators have access to
the pictures. Then, as has been said, if you just post a picture it can

Hi Clay,
Many thanks for all the hard work you put into this. I will try 'LaceMaker1'

Happy lace making,

Hooray! I got in today!
Clay the required name I needed was the 2nd one you mentioned - Youngest

I also Un-ticked the box for being permanently signed it. It automatically
