Just a warning to everyone that I think I have been hacked, as some people are
getting a strange email supposedly from me, with a weird web site link in it.
No it is NOT from me!
My “sent” folder has been wiped clean by someone – not me, and the only
letter there was one to a friend sent 3 weeks ago. The rest had all
disappeared.

Why don’[t these mongrels get a Real job, and leave us all alone?!!

Thanks for that Italian site link, though. That was real, and what marvellous
needlelace shown there. That Gros Point (My favourite to make) is fantastic,
and those gorgeous trees in that type of lace!  Wow!!!

I am “stuck” with tatting only, these days, - and I am really enjoying it.
With all these “New” techniques, - like split rings, Mock rings, etc I am
learning heaps, and having a good time, keeping my fingers busy!!
And Tatting is SO portable, too!  As per Noelene’s wonderful poem, I
always have some ”Tatting in my Pocket”  (well, in my handbag, anyway!!)

Hacked, working on sorting it.  Meanwhile having just turned on after  
teaching all day I have 90+ emails, at least 3 times what I'd expect,  so no 
doubt everyone's emailing me to let me know.
 
Never click on the links in this type of email.  If I ever send things  
people aren't expecting it will have an accompanying explanation.
 
Please, no-one else email me to tell me.  I've known since this  morning as 
a student received it on her phone.

Hello, 
I apologize that my yahoo account got hacked and sent out an email
to all my email addresses.  Never open anything from me or a weblink unless I
have written in the subject line.  

My IT dept recommends the following
software that is free - Malwarebytes -  http://shop.malwarebytes.org

The
free version does not have automatic run features so you must manually go into
the software to do a full scan. It will remove take control hackers
and other malware.   
This software will remove malware that Norton and the
other antivirus software does not pick up. 

If you purchase the software does
have auto run features every so many days.

I have just found out that someone wicked has posted and sent out a change of 
address for me which is fraudulent.  My address has not changed.  Do not try to 
use the address this bad person is telling you.  Sorry to have to tell Arachne 
this, but so many people have my real address that they are probably gettiing 
this fake message.

wow Tess this is quite a hack - it is a bad thing all right. It got into
your account and not only compromised your address book, but I see by
reading the header details in the fake message, TrueSwitch an online
service for address changes is false'd. I don't think they are at fault
either.

I haven't seen this hack before, so thanks for letting us know. We'll be
watchful...

Dear spiders,

There have been a lot of accounts hacked lately, so this is a gentle
reminder: Do not click on any link that looks suspicious, even if it
comes from this list or from someone you know. Suspicious means
links that are posted with no comments or with comments like, Look at
this wonderful site I found!

If you do post a link to the list, please include a sentence or two
explaining what it is, so that we know that the link is genuine.

If you do not have a secure password for your email account, change
it! Insecure passwords are the number one way that accounts get hacked
or misused. Don't use sequences like 12345678 or easy to guess
passwords like PASSWORD (yes, people actually do that sort of thing)
or your birth date, spouse's name, etc. When you use an insecure or a
default password, it's like leaving your house key under the doormat.

Clay,

While someone could disguise malware as a genuine password protector,
this is the real thing. I subscribe to a few tech-oriented sites like
Boing Boing and Lifehacker and get a lot of my recommendations from
them. I've been using anypassword for years and it's fine, with
AES/MD5 encryption. I work in the encryption industry and can tell you
that no program is absolutely impenetrable, but the AES/MD5
combination is quite strong (AES is an encryption algorithm and MD5 is
a hashing  algorithm).

My deepest apologies to all who received a note for sales from my address.  My
son pointed out that I'd been hacked. I hope none of you opened it, and if you
did, nothing horrible happened. I don't sell anything, nor do I send out
things like that.  I just want to make lace and read about lace.
