Re: [lace] Lorelei Halley

2022-12-04 Thread myonline
Thanks, Nancy--I'm now capturing what I can from the Internet Archive.
So far, I haven't found any pages or other content missing, but I have a
ways to go.  Her main page there also gave me the name of her (previous)
hosting company, and I've reached out to them to see whether they can
give us access to her content.

Deborah--you are correct that GoDaddy is the domain registrar now, but
her site is no longer hosted at that domain, obviously.  I will keep
trying to find contact information for her family.

I found her Pinterest in my browser history:
https://www.pinterest.com/lynxlacelady/

Lots of pages there, as well.

ns1.parklogic.com and ns2.parklogic.com I'm not totally clear on this, but
the domain name expired September 30. Possibly GoDaddy bought the name on
spec, or perhaps her family used GoDaddy to reregister the domain quickly. It
doesn't put us any closer to finding her next of kin for accessing her data
for preservation. fyi, the internet archive does not crawl every page, so
those files may be incomplete.

The “Lorelei Lynxlady” on Pinterest did not produce anything that looked
like lace related materials.

Good news, for now. I found Lorelei's Pinterest boards. Search for "Lorelei

Pinterest so maybe those are good indefinitely.

Hi Sarah and Deborah,

Do you know how to rescue the content if I were to purchase the domain name
of lynxlady.com as an emergency step? Is anyone in touch with her brother?
Is anything being done to save her Pinterest boards?

In short, is there anything I can do to help?

Re: [lace] Lorelei Halley

2022-12-02 Thread myonline

Hi, Nancy!

I am in the process of re-establishing the pages and forums that Lorelei
originally hosted at Ning.  Before the Ning site went down (conscious
decision by Lorelei due to increased hosting fees at Ning), I captured
as much content as I was able to, from both the LaceIOLI site and the
NeedleLaceTalk site.  Shortly after I started the process of putting
that content up on a new host at laceioli.org, I was deployed for a year
with the Guard.  I had hoped to be able to continue the process during
my deployment but was hampered by often slow to nonexistent Internet
service.  I am home from my deployment and resuming the process of
loading content to the new site.  Due to the way Ning was set up, I am
having to do everything manually, so it will be a slow process.

I haven't tried Lorelei's lynxlady.com site since my return, but my
understanding is that her brother was going to keep the site up for the
foreseeable future.

As for laceioli.org, if you have any issues signing up or posting,
please contact me privately and I will do my best to help you.

Lorelei’s family have been very generous in transferring ownership of a
great amount of lace items to the IOLI. The IOLI has assumed responsibility
for the Ning site and transferred it to the LaceIOLI.org site. Unfortunately,
the person who was working on the site had to move and has not recently been
able to work on it.
I think that questions about it should be directed to Prabha Ramakrishnan the
IOLI Vice President because she oversees media for the IOLI. Her email is
