The shawl is beautiful, even more beautiful when you see it in 'the flesh'
so to speak She has made a very good job of it. Agnes brought it to my
house on Thursday evening to show everyone it before she gives it to her
daughter for Christmas.

I made myself a very large roller pillow to work large scale patterns on.
I used a roll of the insulating stuff for putting underneath wallpaper, it's
like a thin sheet of styrofoam. I think it was called Warmaline or something
like that. It came from a DIY store. That was the roller and

itis enlarged and made with colours and texture.
Have a happy and restful Christmas. You deserve it.

Your shawl is beautiful. You chose really good colors for it, too. What I
love even more is the Bedfordshire corner that is just before it in your
album. That piece is marvelous.

Thanks, Jean, for the instructions (for us Luddites). Agnes, the shawl is as
beautiful as everyone has been raving! You said you used lace weight yarn, but
what brand?
Last night I finished a Torchon shawl for my daughter for Christmas. When I
started it 2 moths ago, I was not sure whether it would be for Christmas
2011 or 2012, but I did it, and am quite pleased with the result.
The material was a mixture of alpaca wool, silk and rayon in lace weight.

While I echo everyone's comments about the lace itself, I must add that

Nice job Agnes, it is beautiful. Did you have much shrinkage when you released
the yarn from the pins? I did a small scarf years ago and was disappointed
with
the tension. I think I was just using a fine wool, or maybe it had some
acrylic
in it.
