Re: [lace] wreath storage bags aka lace pillow carrying case
I saw a red version of the firm plastic wreath case at JoAnn's on Sat. 24 size. However, upon opening it I found 2 molded-in-place pegs/protrusions designed to hang the wreath which would severely limit the size of pillow that the case would hold, probably only a 20 pillow. Be sure to check out the inside before you buy. Lorri The green (or red) solid plastic case, without any window or stiffening insert, does hold 24 inside. It is 5-1/2 thick, deep enough to hold two pillows for storage. At JoAnn's fabric and craft store last year, I saw the same thing in autumn colors for Autumn Wreaths. It might be a bit too late this year to catch one on a clearance sale. - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The hard plastic wreath case is not a prospect for pillows. It's the soft foldable storage bags that work. But the advise to check the inside is wise. You never know what you might find. Re: [lace] wreath storage bags aka lace pillow carrying case
I understand that this thread started with someone looking for a bag to carry their pillow. I found that the hard plastic case is good for storage at the house however. The wreath box I got two years ago has funny molded corners, but is still large enough to store my Princess pillow. The Princess has a little roller sticking out the back that you roll your finished lace on. It has always concerned me that it might get bumped and bent or broken. The wreath box protects it perfectly. And it isn't a perfect seal; there is still airflow so I don't worry too much about plastic fumes. Still I try to air it out a couple time a year. [lace] wreath storage bags aka lace pillow carrying case
I just received a copy of Improvements catalog and on the back cover is a picture of a heavy duty wreath storage bag. It says it's made of heavy duty polyester which is waterproof and tearproof. It has a full-circle zipper and carry handles. You can see a picture here: http://www.improvementscatalog.com/Parent.asp?product=301692xdept%5Fid=1 Has anyone seen or used one of these? I wonder if they would hold up to fairly regular use? They are not expensive at all. I know several years ago, many of the US stores were selling hard-sided wreath cases that lacemakers were using to store their pillows. I didn't get any of those as we were living in Guam at the time and they weren't available to me. And I'm looking more for transporting as opposed to storing pillows since I have a nice lace pillow stand. I have had the great pleasure of meeting weekly with a local lacemaking group here in Belgium, located in the town of Ath. Many of the ladies carry a bag similar to this although none are this thick at 7inches. When I inquired where they had purchased them the answer was the local fishing store! They are bags made for fishing nets. I've not yet had the chance to get by the fishing shop, so I have no idea of price comparison but I wondered if this wreath bag would be similar. It would be nice to have a more secure way to transport my lace pillow back and forth to lace classes. The waterproof aspect is nice too. Hi Dona, I bought a similar bag last year for traveling to IOLI convention with. Mine was a little more expensive (but not by much), and was made by Rubbermaid. I think the handle on mine was sturdier, and I checked it on the airline as luggage and it went fine! I cut a piece of cardboard to cover up the plastic window, and stuffed clothes around the extra spaces. I take it yours wouldn't be used for such travel needs, but it should serve quite well for carrying your pillow back and forth to lace groups. And at those prices, it's worth a gamble. -- Mary, in Baltimore, MD [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [lace] wreath storage bags aka lace pillow carrying case
Yes, I have the wreath bag sold by Lowes last year. They have one again this year -- same thing except the picture/greetings on the side is different. The Lowes version does not have a plastic window in it. The price was about $8.00 last year. I think I tried the Rubbermaid version first, which was very well made, but returned it. There is an insert that goes around the narrow side to stiffen it. With the insert in place, my 24 pillow would not fit inside it. The 24 was the outside measurement, not inside. The green (or red) solid plastic case, without any window or stiffening insert, does hold 24 inside. It is 5-1/2 thick, deep enough to hold two pillows for storage. At JoAnn's fabric and craft store last year, I saw the same thing in autumn colors for Autumn Wreaths. It might be a bit too late this year to catch one on a clearance sale. After Christmas, the Lowe's bags were half price. If you don't mind the Christmas message on your storage bag, the wreath bag works well for the large pillow.
