Fwd: [lace] Lace art by Agnes Herczeg

The lace is painted?? I am astonished to hear that. Do you think it starts
out as who thread and then the color is added? Or is the paint just used as a
stiffener?

I own one of the pieces shown in the article... the woman with the sheaves
of grain in the article, as well as another one of a woman looking out a
window.

The lace is painted...I think with acrylic paint. There used to be an
interview with her where it showed her lace in the various stages. Tried to
find it, but the link to it doesn't work anymore.

I love her work! Saving up for another piece, but they go fast these days.
She's getting too popular. ; )

Devon, any chance you can get a photo of this special piece and put it on
Flickr?

I love her work and would love to see some up close. Fascinating how she does
it.

Lace art by Agnes Herczeg is also surprisingly affordable.
I had already realized this while researching the contemporary lace show I
am curating at the Hunterdon Art Museum in New Jersey, when I was contacted
by a man looking for an anniversary gift for his wife for the " lace"
anniversary. They always buy a work of art in the anniversary year
substance. I made a few suggestions and he really liked Agnes's work. He
contacted her and I think the work he liked was unavailable. Instead she
made a special work referencing things tha were important to his wife. It
is lovely.
