The only thing unique here is these are all Mac OS X machines, and they all use two patches: patch-crtimes.diff patch-fileflags.diff I have used those patches for almost a year now. Another question, which version of rsync is currently installed and in use?

I have thought that keeping a number of failed backups could be a good feature to investigate. In my case, the rsync failures (whether or not rsync is at fault) usually occur on only a few files. I would prefer that lbackup have an option to ignore these errors, and just leave the
