Thanks Kp and David for suggestions. I am able to boot my raspberry image in
qemu but only with a modified
kernel. The documentation kind of suggests the kernel may have had a patch or
support for the versatilepb. I dont have a setup to rebuild the kernel,
perhaps at a later time. So
It'll be good to make install from cd easy for end users - so I think
that it'll be good to add 'install to hdd' item into menu. And when user
chooses it - copy all packages to choosed partition, place
syslinux-related files and leaf.cfg (where we should store then on
isolinux image?), make it

Using git to store the packages and using branch to group the packages by
version/architecture is really a good thing and it's not dependent to how and
where the files are host.
But using http to get the packages is a bad thing for me because is dependent
of how the http server expose the files/
