I also use compact flash. I had some problems with the files being all
scrambled when I mounted the disk as vfat instead of msdos. Essentially
I used the wrong file system.

It appears that the problem is not with bering at all but with the linux
router that connects to the internet and is the default gateway for all
boxes in the 192.168.0 subnet.
The bering firewall has IP 192.168.0.250. I have a route on the linux
firewall connected to the internet that says
I have Bering booting off of compact flash. I have lots of extra
packages because of the extra space afforded. When I back up initrd.lrp
it gets totaly hosed and I have to copy a fresh one over to boot again.
Has anyone seen or fixed this problem?
Did you load the ncurses.lrp? I think I got if off of the dachstein
site.
