[leaf-user] can't back up initrd

I have Bering booting off of compact flash. I have lots of extra packages because of the extra space afforded. When I back up initrd.lrp it gets totaly hosed and I have to copy a fresh one over to boot again. Has anyone seen or fixed this problem?
