[LU] Not many mails today
Either the list is down - or more likely we're all pretty stunned by what is really unexpected success so far. We were all fairly vociferous after the Preston and Cardiff matches but, apart from the match reports, nada today. Even the mad doctor is dumbfounded. Don't worry though, normal service will soon be restored - we will be losing 3 or 4 (or 5..) on the trot and we can all pitch in with our least favourite players and formations. Untill then though. Well, yes I'm a bit stunned that we find ourselves in 2nd place, considering those results of only a few weeks ago. We do seem to be playing like a different team - is there anything different in the line-up from the bad results, or is this just a confidence thing ? Trouble is, that confidence can burst like a bubble. However, this is an excellent run, and the last two results in particular were excellent. Although we still have the worrying ability to ship goals. Can anybody inform us when was the last clean sheet we had prior to this w/e ? Gaffer P.S. At more than 50% of turnover, I was surprised at the size of the wages bill. I thought Mr. Bates was tighter than that ;). After a quick rule-of-thumb guesstimate, I was also surprised that gate receipts work out to only about half of the turnover too. I had assumed that in the lower leagues (the figures are surely for the last year in the 3rd division) gate receipts would be by far the bulk of a club's income.
