[LU] Injuries

2018-11-22 Thread nat...@sky.com
Been out all day so surprised to find no posts on here about our new injury
crisis !Not only has Blackman gone back to Chelsea with his season ending
injury, Bielsa has now said that both Pontus and BPF will be out on SaturdaySo
both our keepers will be missing so it is either try and get an emergency one
in on loan or give Huffer or Miazek their (very unexpected debut) - even worse
they will have either a make shift centre half or another debutant in front of
them ! (Halme most likely to get a game ?)
MB has also come out with one of his strange comments in that he said he was
going to drop BPF for Blackman if Blackman was not injured - I hope this is
good rather than bad man-management on his behalf, when clearly he could have
said nothing on the subject (unless he told BPF on his decision before
Blackmans injury?)
So no keeper, only one centre back, and no right back ( Ayling and Berardi both
out) - for two games in 4 days that we really need to win (and with a full team
etc , games that we would expect to win)
Much may depend on how well the keeper and maybe Halme play in front of their
first big crowd (it is a sell out on Saturday)

I don't get the 'this is Bielsa's fault with his small squad idea'We have Roofe
who has been great this season, with £7m Bamford as back up - behind them is
Tyler Roberts who we paid £2.5m (?) for and then Dalby and Edmundson as young
but highly rated players behind themLast season we had Roofe, Lassogga as top 2
then Ekuban & Grot as back up neither of whom were good enoughPrevious to that
it was Wood, Roofe - then Doukara & AntonssonThen Wood, Antenucci - Doukara &
Irwinunder Evans - Morrison, Antenucci - behind them was Doukara and Cani !
So for the previous 4 years we have had 2 strikers (often not as good as Roofe
/ Bamford) and then back up which was nowhere near good enough - this time we
have Roberts who should be better than Ekuban, Grot, Antonsson, Cani, Irwin,
and hopefully better than Doukara the only '3rd choice' who played more than a
handful of games for us and was average at best for us
SO I think (just as at Swansea when it was the 2 centre backs) MB is just
unlucky that it is both strikers who are injured - if Roofe or Bamford was fit
it would not be an issue. Fans are believing some of the false hype about small
squad and no doubt if we have a bad run at some stage it will all be about
'burn out'
MB is correct when he defends his decision to play Bamford in the u23s - it is
the only way to keep him (and others not starting games) match fit. In addition
the injury was not caused by a tackle or anything so could easily have happened
in training
Also unlike under Monk when we needed Wood , this season so far, we have been
getting goals from lots of different players not just the striker (Roofe)
Yes we will be up against it without an experienced proper striker and we will
miss Hernandez & possilby Berardi who has been excellent so far, but Pontus and
Harrison are decent deputies for them
I am not saying that we will beat Millwall - they view this as their cup final
and put in an extra 10% effort and commitment as do their fans BUT there is no
reason we cannot get the 3 points

Yeah, agreed it is slightly unlucky, and he makes a good case that a small
tight knit group is part of his plan and also that he has planned for this
eventuality and hopefully we will see that Plan A is still enough to be
Millwall. I think they only worry is that is it only just September, it's a
long long season and Tyler has a bit of a history with injuries. On the
positive side, he got a start with Wales so is undoubtedly well regarded. No
where near panic stations yet    - Good article from Moscowwhite;

I wonder if the Hernandez and Roofe injuries a result of over training ?

I think this is Tyler Roberts’s big chance. He’s not a winger and has struggled
playing out wide this season. A free, central role might just suit him? Unless
Bielsa decides to play Roberts in Pablo’s position and one of the young lads up
front ?

Thought we really missed Hernandez against Boro and I don’t think we look the
same team without him.

2018-09-13 Thread {broken-address} Nicholas Armit
While I see the logic in this I also feel that when we lost players last year
we just brought in crap to replace, so extra bodies yes but a drop in quality.
At least this way we will see if Roberts etc who have been playing with the
squad since pre-season are fully integrated in the team. I guess the intent is
that with a small squad the drop off in class should not be so great.
Just a bead game for this to happen though Millwall have been crap so far.

This game is shaping up to be a huge test of Bielsa's methods: pass-and-move
