Linear rail or not?

Hi guys,I am wanting some advise.Would someone be willing to start a new thread explaining the do’s and don’ts of putting linear rails and bearings to support the router carriage on both the x and y axis?I know the general gist but am having trouble visualizing how the router is going to work

Yes - and you are already doing that.  LoL! A second approach - if you couldn't or didn't want to make a longer Y-axis would be to just do it on the Y-axis - while putting the linear rails on top of the X-axis rails.  This second way would cut your loss of depth of throw in half. Keep us posted

Appears a concern is the sacrificing of depth of throw in the Z-axis.   Thinking a little outside of the box (Mill):  How about mounting a piece of aluminum 90º angle stock to the outer faces of the X-axis and Y-axis rails - with one face of the 90º stock against the rail extrusion and the other

Hi Tim, I did reach out to Curt on the rotary table. Hopefully that will work out. I have seen a couple of other ( longer than my 900 )legacy machines for sale on Craigslist / Facebook Marketplace with accessories including one with a rotary table (a 1000EX for $875 and a 1500EX for $1200 )

Mac you made a great point. I was actually just talking to Mike Pung about that very subject. It would be great to have a recipe to the details for that process. Also just changing bearings. I changed mine out on my 1200 a few months ago and yes it went fine because of my past back ground, diy
