I'm in the same boat. Basically, its buying older computers on ebay, like
pentium 4s from name brand vendors with reinstallation media still intact.
I agree that $3000 is alot given the technical hurdles. I'd be really
concerned about the CNC hardware itself inside the box and replacing any of

something Tim K and I talked about years ago.( before Legacy went into CNC.)
Can you have your cake and eat it too? ;-)

Hey there, my vote is for CNC all the way! My home made setup controller
developed a problem and I switched back to manual, and let me tell you that
its a time consuming change to use the mill manually! There are two main
advantages of cnc that I miss when going back to manual. First, motor
hey Curt!... well, a few things to consider... he does say that there are
gears, just that they were never installed... when I purchased my used,
1800 Legacy, it was the opposite of this ebay machine... my machine was
setup as a manual machine and all of the CNC upgrade kit was there, but
I like it. The only thing missing is pulling out a chisel and carving out
the toe's and making it a claw-foot table. Now the only problem is how to
get out of your shop. If yours is like mine, space is at premium.

Maybe one should consider the original artist in this. Would you change the

The rest of the table is quite plain,so I would not make a jack-a-lope out
of it as someone else described it. If you are not going to keep it, i
would sell it or give to some needy college student to use. I would sell it
for at least the cost of poly and sand paper that you have used on

Also who says you have to let the rest of the table stay plain it’s not like it
cost you much knock yourself out have fun make it a work of art all over, and
post pics it will give us all something to talk
If I was altering the legs I think I would do a really fast pitch like one turn
for the length of the leg with many starts in a rope but it really is a
personnel choice and there is heaps as you know
Make a whole new leg from scrap to see what it will look like first then if you
don’t like it
