Is this person truly unlinked? Does TreeFinder show him as a separate Tree?
Found a person totally unlinked to anybody. Tried to link him to who I
thought was his brother and got message he's already part of this family
same with the brother--no parents showing.

Gary Mary,
I fixed the problem by unlinking them from their parents, a lovely couple
named unknown unknown. It would seem that the couple (one or both) would
have shown up on Family View or Pedigree View but alas twas not the case.

Didn't realise until people started sending them. Apologies.

I would suggest copying the file to your legacy\images folder - and
also that your options-customise-locations points to the correct

OK, maybe this is stating the obvious - but does the file have the
appropriate extension .jpg? Sometimes, in renaming a file, one
forgets the extension, and Legacy will not recognise it as a picture
file.

Greetings all,
I want to include a fan chart at the beginning of each grandparent's
section of a book.
Is there a way to include either fan charts created by the newish
Legacy charting? or external files, either pdf, or word docs?
Thanks
Warm regards :-)

I haven't done it yet, but I would think creating the fan charts as PDF pages,
then using the 'picture scrapbook' to get them in. You might have to make 4
'books', then add them together as a multi-book report at the end.

Another easy solution is to restore from the last backup made just before
the problem manifested itself. And if you don't have such a backup, then use
this as a learning situation as to why backups are important, because future
fixes may not be as easy as a merge run.

Ron,
Don't know if you are around or not, but I finally think I have my files in

I don't think it would be a good enhancement. Just another item to tend to.
Legacy already does enough as it is. You can create your own Naming/AKA

mean to offend you, but Legacy has plenty of current enhancements that can

I have photocopies of about 100 family sheets that my great uncle prepared back
in the 50's (before I was born). Is there a particular way this type of info
should be sourced?
What about verbal info received from someone that is now deceased?
I am trying to follow Legacy's process for Master Sources and then
Source Detail for info on the particular person/event. However in some
cases the detail info is such that I could use it for more than one
event. Is there a way to cite the same source detail (not just master
source) so I do

What sources are you using to estimate the date? You would cite those sources,
just as you cite a source (or several sources) for a specific date.
For example, if you've found your person

Or you could try the Traditions template; I didn't even realize that one
existed until I just looked more closely at the drop down list!
So you have at least 3 choices (not counting the Basic source format)...try
them all out and see which works best for your needs.
