Sherry,
Bing Maps seems to be working fine for me (finds locations and gives
directions) but I'm having the same problems as the others from within
Legacy on both my XP desktop and Vista laptop (using IE8 on both).
I've never had a problem with mapping before this.

Another suggestion - import a test file of you data to Legacy and just
play around with it for awhile. Try entering information in different
ways and then checking various reports and the many options within
those reports to see how it looks, what you like and don't like. In

Bill,
Before you jump into changing everything, let me recommend that you
enter a few both ways then run some test reports and web pages (if you
are going to create a website) to see how they look to you. Also check
out how the information displays within Legacy - especially the
mapping feature. I
Carolyn,
Master Location notes actually can be printed. If you create a
location index in reports there is an option to include the location
notes in that index. They can also be included in the Location Report.
That said, I only use the location notes field for things like
directions to cemeteries
In addition to the reasons already mentioned by others, I like the
ability to mark each cemetery location on the map. (Many times the
mapping feature will automatically find the actual cemetery but if
not, I can manually mark it.)

Mine is http://www.lfmccauley.com/. The front end pages (anything from

I should have added that even that exercise didn't teach me nearly

My preference is to use Events so I can attach photos and/or documents

Vicki,
What you are trying to do can be done as follows:
1. Run a back-up (File, Back up Family File), give the file the
current name. (Do this from the menu, not upon closing Legacy.)
2. Rename the file you have open (File, Rename Family File) - if you
have Legacy set to open the last file used, i

If you are talking about Sources, see "Source Clipboard" in help for

In the letter template, select "historic" instead of "personal

Look to the right of the data entry fields for
