For JPG, TIFF, etc. I think you are supposed to use PICTURE. Try that.

viewed in Legacy is nothing to do
That is a bit TOO much simplification. You can save a JPG as many times as
you like without degradation. It is only if the file is edited or modified
that saving will cause it to be recompressed and thereby degrade the image.
