Pat, 1. The file is still a proper GEDCOM file and has the .ged extension so you do not need to worry that your computer says it is a FTW GEDCOM file. 2. As others have said FTM associates the .ged file extension with itself when it is first installed and every time you run the program it

I recently wanted to send a GEDCOM and when it was set up and ready to go, I noticed that the icon and the extension was that of FTM. I tried to make them become a Legacy icon and extension w/o success. Can anyone solve this problem for me? I did send the GEDCOM anyway and it seemed to come

Thanks all for the suggestions; however I had already done just as Dale had suggested. I did it again making certain that I had completed every step Dale suggested and then ran a new GEDCOM but still got the FTM extension. I went to My Computer, down to Legacy folder and to the GEDCOM folder
