The All Caps surnames is really an obsolete standard if you are using a
computer to record your genealogy. It dates from the days of typewriters
and hand written records. The current practise is to enter your surnames
in mixed case. It is easy for the computer to display those mixed case

Yes, and I thought that's what the OP wanted as well. I didn't test this
myself so I might be wrong about clicking the Apply button. But why have an
Apply button if it doesn't do anything? If the Apply button doesn't do
anything it should be removed.

Ah yes! I see that you are quite correct. In this case, using the
Apply button prompts a question as to whether you wish to the settings
to be retrospective.

But it does do something! *As a general rule* an Apply button causes
some setting to be activated without exiting the screen which shows the
Apply

I just ran the Potential Problems report to verify my data entered (I have

one of the people I have entered has come up with a problem. 'Surname all
uppercase'. I have set the settings in to program to display and print
