For those of you who have subscribed and, like me, not received any
messages, I have an answer.
Apparently, if you subscribe to the LegacyFS list using the exact same
email address with which you subscribed to the usual list, then you
won't receive anything. Unsubscribe from the LegacyFS list and
How many of us have two e-mail addresses to subscribe with? I have

It may be easy to set up multiple e-mails, but why should I have to? I use
one e-mail to subscribe to several newsletters which come from the same
place; i.e., allrecipes.com - I've subscribed to 4 of their newsletters all
with my one e-mail addy. It can't be that difficult for Legacy to sort this
I am getting emails at both lists with the same email address without any
problems.

Just to clarify my prior post: I have not attempted to subscribe to the Legacy
Family Search list. I am interested only in this list, the LUG, to which I
belonged for a very long time until I unsubbed about 2 weeks ago.
I resubscribed on 2/2 and have been verified as subscribed. Apparently I
I've pulled an image off of Ancestry.com. The image is noticeably
scanned from a bound book. In the case of something like public
records on ancestry, I've been using Ancestry as the source (as all I
get in that case is Ancestry's transcription of the original). In
this case though, I can see
You source is where you got it, in this case, Ancestry.com. I see
nothing wrong with sourcing it exactly as you show it. You would want
to include the exact URL and the date you viewed it so that someone
else could go there to view it.
I have found that complete URLs are necessary because I tried
This is the source citation I've been using for Ancestry's Missouri Marriages,

James:
Your source is a marriage record, or more likely a page from a marriage
register, for the state of Missouri. Whether you found it at Ancestry.com,
FamilySearch, or on a microfilm is incidental (but should be included in the
source citation). I'd use the template for Marriage records
Perfect! Thanks for a real example - very helpful. For anyone who may
be interested, you need to use the online database (vs. the online
image) template for this example. With the 'citing' field on the

source. I tried
I do agree with your assertions about the actual source and incidental
collections it can be found in. As such, I think you are suggesting
State Archives be listed as the primary source but include a snippet
about found at Ancestry. This is what I was trying before asking my
question, but wasn't
Bummer on the URLs. I have not considered this, but do see the risks
as you've said. The whole URL makes the citations really ugly though.
I'll have to think on this and see if I can address the issue but
keep cleaner (IMHO) citations.
Thanks

Right. I understand that, and it works very well.
Kristen has suggested an alternate template (online images), which
doesn't seem to include a ready made for adding the 'citing State
Archives...' Also, that template seems to me to prompt for input from
the original source (State Archives)
James:
I believe it was Geoff who suggested that the *source* is what you hold in
your hand. This is an excellent basic test, even if you haven't actually
printed the marriage record and aren't physically holding it in hand.
No, I'm not suggesting that the primary source is the State

Under the example I sent earlier, the phrase citing State Archives could be
added on the Text/Comments tab of the Master Source if you wish, although you
might be more specific with something like displaying images of microfilmed

Ah, end results are very similar. Will have to play with both ideas
and see which one I like better.
Thanks add

Since I use the actual book as the source, and not the database that
collected/copied/organized it, I would put in the source, the books name, and
say 'copied by Ancestry'.
