Paul Go to Legacy charts and create your chart. save in PDF format only. Then you can take it to any print shop and they will print it on a large format X-Y plotter like architectural drawing are printed on. At the Staples here they charge $5.00 for a standard size 3ft x4ft and anything

[LegacyUG] Can I run two instances of Legacy?

2010-12-02 Thread Yvonne Morehouse
I have two monitor screens. Is it possible to run two instances of Legacy, one showing my file and another person's file on the second screen (I'm not happy with the split screen as they both appear on one screen). Thanks, Yvonne Legacy User Group guidelines:

Yvonne, If you run Legacy in a window rather than run in full screen, you can stretch the window across the two monitors and have one file on one monitor and the other file on the other monitor. To stretch the window across, move the mouse pointer to the side until it turns into a double arrow.

[LegacyUG] Changing Citation Detail to Sources for Obits

2010-12-02 Thread William Boswell
I've finally decided to change all my census source links from Details (Citations) to Sources and wish I had done this from the beginning. I had everyone linked to the source, i.e., 1850 US Federal Census, then cited each individual beneath that for specific pages of the census then include the

I have created a 4 generation ancestor chart beginning with my wife. Each of the people used in the chart has a picture in the picture gallery. In the chart I am including only picture and name. All pictures show up in the chart except for my wife and her father. Why would these two picture not

What report are you using? (I found it, but sent the stuff below for tech to see). The Ancestor Chart does not allow this photo, nor the name, regardless of number of generations. In Charting-Ancestor/Standard-4 gen, the husband is not included in a pedigree chart. Many pre-printed forms

[LegacyUG] Legacy Startup Problem

For the past 3-4 days, every time I start Legacy, I get a 'Do you want to install this program from an unknown source'. That program is 'Legacy.exe'. If I answer 'yes', Legacy installs and the package works. But the next time I start, the same issue crops up. I have downloaded 7.4 several

Dennis - nothing that I recall. I tried to uninstall Legacy, but the line is still in the Control Panel after the uninstall works its way. Then if I click on the Legacy 7.4 again, which I have used since May 2010, it states that 'unable to find Install.log'. I've installed and uninstalled a

I am using Charting/Ancestor Standard/4 gens. I just found the problem. DUH. I didn't look at the Privacy Options. They were set to suppress details for living people, which in this case was their photos. Thanks for the response. Larry On Thu, Dec 2, 2010 at 4:38 PM, RICHARD SCHULTHIES

Bob, If the install.log file is missing then Legacy will not uninstall. I suggest that you copy your files and USR files to some safe place (you seem to do this anyhow) and do a full install from the Legacy website on top of your current installation ( i.e. don't uninstall first). Hopefully this

That makes sense to me; I think the comment in the past has been that if we put it in sources that way, we end up with an unwieldy number of sources to wade through; but for the purposes you mention, I have considered it too.  Sometimes I'll be copying census data into details of all mentioned

Do you mean, that find some pictures ARE NOT showing in their places on the disk, or that the you have a question mark where a photo should be. that happens when I change directories and forget some I move or some I meant to move. moving can also include renaming. Or did I guess wrong what you

That's the problem I was having when I find a typo and have to wade through many records to find all the family members that belong together. I also understand it makes the sources much longer, but there doesn't seem to be a good way to do this. It would be nice in a future version of Legacy

[LegacyUG] Legacy Data Transfer to Android ?

I think I noticed recently that there was some discussion about what might be available for us to transfer our Legacy files to the Android phones and devices. I personally can't attest to the usefulness of it, or if it's fully ready, but here's a link about it. I'm planning on looking into it
