As most of you are aware some states, especially Virginia, have Independent
Cities as opposed to being located in a particular county. Previously, I
have been leaving out the Independent City criteria when recording
locations. Since I am cleaning up my Master Location list, I was wondering
how
I enter Independent City.

Charles - I designate the Independent City. It is a clue for me. Many times
their tax structures and other laws were different from the surrounding
area and it spurs me to look for some records I might not look for
otherwise.

I use I C instead of typing out the words. This fills in
between the two commas (the least of my problems) but more
importantly it tells me that X doesn't HAVE a county so I
don't need to go look for it. It also tells non-Virginians
they need to ask questions. (g)
