Diane, You can change your start person (Options - Set Startup Family). You can unlink your grandson from his paternal ancestors if you want to - that makes them a separate tree within your family file. Both I think are preferable to making another family file which is probably what you mean by

I am wondering if it is at all possible to separate a tree? I have my grandson as the main person and would like to remove the paternal side and make it it’s own tree, right now you can see the paternal side and maternal side and I no longer want it that way. I hope this makes sense. Thank you
