I agree - when it is ready for prime time and any bugs have been worked out. The last thing anyone wants is a glitchy version of Legacy. It is a great program and we have waiting for a major upgrade for a while now, so please check the oven and make sure Legacy 8 is fully baked, properly cooled and ready for the table! I also suspect that the release is not totally in Millenia's control. For example, does a new version with a database change require Family Tree retesting and recertification by Family Search? What about companion products like the IOS/Android Families app? Would Legacy release a new version before TelGen (or other partners) have updated their products? I truly do not understand why people are so anxious for a new version. It will have nice features, to be sure, but all new software has scads of bugs that cannot be found until it is released to the general public. The beta-testing group is much, much too small to uncover all the bugs that will emerge. Since we are still waiting, in some cases for more than four years, for bugs in the previous versions to be corrected, why are some of you so impatient to encounter even more bugs and problems? I hope they do not release it until all the beta-testers have confirmed that they have found no bugs. There will still be many, many bugs, but at least some of the most egregious will have been corrected. For example, does a new version with a database change require Family Tree retesting and recertification by Family Search? What about companion products like the IOS/Android Families app? Would Legacy release a new version before TelGen (or other partners) have updated their products?
