You might be able to use LTOOLS and replace edit the particulars so that you
dont have to manually edit each record.

You certainly could use the Legacy Search and Replace the ! for [[

At one time, the manual said to use ! to mark what was

mark things you /didn't/ want to print, but the option to
print only tagged notes was left, so the ! kept on working.

So far as I can tell by a little experimentation since
Sherry's post, I can put a [[ at the beginning of a 'graph
and a ]] at the end and it works. It also appears to work
if I put it at the beginning of a formatted section
[[

which lets me mark huge sections of notes at once. That'll
probably turn out to not-work next time I try it, and if it
does not-work, I guess I'm back to GED. :(

Legacy does not use the ! to mark sections of notes for printing. I may
be wrong since I was never a big PAF user but I think the ! in Notes in
PAF was a way to mark sources or maybe it was events. In any event it
was something which PAF did not support in early versions so the !
 marking was a work around.

Legacy does have the opposite method of using [[]] to surround text in
Notes which are private and will not be included in reports and Web
Pages unless you tell Legacy to include private information.

It would be a big editing job to surround all the portions of your Notes
with [[ and ]] to suppress the notes you do not want included in your
web pages but that is the only thing I can suggest to selectively
 include portions of the Notes..

I also suspect that the release is not totally in Millenia's control. For
example, does a new version with a database change require Family Tree
retesting and recertification by Family Search? What about companion products
like the IOS/Android Families app? Would Legacy release a new version before
TelGen (or other partners) have updated their products?

All of that being said, I still wish they would provide some indication more
specific than 'when it's ready'

I truly do not understand why people are so anxious for a new version. It will
have nice features, to be sure, but all new software has scads of bugs that
cannot be found until it is released to the general public. The beta-testing
group is much, much too small to uncover all the bugs that will emerge.

Since we are still waiting, in some cases for more than four years, for bugs in
the previous versions to be corrected, why are some of you so impatient to
encounter even more bugs and problems?

I hope they do not release it until all the beta-testers have confirmed that
they have found no bugs. There will still be many, many bugs, but at least some

I agree - when it is ready for prime time and any
bugs have been worked out. The last thing anyone wants
is a glitchy version of Legacy. It is a great program
and we have waiting for a major upgrade for a while now,
so please check the oven and make sure Legacy 8 is fully
baked, properly cooled and ready for the table!
