[LegacyUG] Charting Children With Right Parent

The original message to the list is in the attachment.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy
imposed by some email providers. Users who want to send messages
without conversion to attachments should use a different email address
for their subscription.

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require
this conversion include gmail.com and hotmail.com. Many other email
providers will also work but you will have to give them a try.--- Begin Message ---

When I chart my family, my children are shown linked with my first wife
and I and my stepchildren are shown linked to their mothers. When I try to
chart my first cousin, her children are shown linked to the two of them. What
did I do right on my family but don't remember to do for my cousin.
I am using Legacy 8.0.0.586 and Windows 10.

Re: [LegacyUG] Creating an Index List

2017-03-06 Thread Mika Bilich
Brian,
I set it all up in Index. Then Added the columns I wanted and saved it. The
problem I am having is it won't print Alphabetically. That way I can have
all of the same Surnames together.

I will try it in the List view. WIll let ya know.
Thanks
Mika

Mary... it isn’t my question but it would help me if you would expand.

Mika, are you using the free version or Deluxe. I can’t remember if the Index
Tab is displayed in the free version is why I ask.

Either way, look for the INDEX Tab just below the menu bar, click on that tab
and then on ‘Options’ in the upper right hand corner of this window.

Click on ‘Customize’ and here you can choose the columns for the items you want
to display. Once you get it the way you want it, be sure to SAVE and give it a
name so you can LOAD and use it again in future.

If I am not clear, ask again and we will be happy to write out step by step, if
needed.

You can create many different customized views, save them with names that you
will recognize and easily switch between them, depending on what you are
researching at the moment.

I would go back and do it in PAF but Windows 10 doesn't work with PAF.

Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to print a list of just the female names
in my file, and further if one can print off just given names.

If you want to include parents, spouse, etc on the index page click on the
"options" button on the left hand side then on "custom." I have added sort
fields this way.

Click in one of the boxes at the top (#, Given or Surname) to sort the
list based on that field. The # will sort by the RIN of the people.

On the print set up you can choose columns to include for up to 3
lines/person.
