Jane, You can restore your backup(s) to a new name and recover notes if necessary. Though that requires you remember who. Just check that the notes aren't there in the merged person. I'm not exactly sure when and how this bug operates - I just know to beware. I don't do much merging. Cathy

Amy, If you go to Options - Customise 8.13 then you can turn on other Hint options. There are 4. My Heritage, FindMyPast, Genealogy Bank and FamilySearch. FamilySearch hints work differently. They are not searching their databases but the FamilySearch tree only for those people for whom

Check for duplicates frequently. Set birth age range wide. If you have duplicate entries over hours and years of work, you should find them. Then you can merge the records and connect them as required with the merged info. Currently, if you have notes to merge from two different records, you

Does Legacy only search My Heritage? Where does it get the info from other trees. Seems if I click on the search thing to go to My Heritage, it comes up with Hints but they always seem to have the same info as in my tree which I do not have published but have givien a few people. Other sites
