Hi,
I was helping a friend fix her legacy file system, and discovered she had
three legacy file short-cuts on her desk top, a short cut to the legacy
program, a short cut to a data base file in and different file, and two
other data base files with shortcuts to either one or the other legacy

Thank you Dermot, somewhat gratifying that I can see my test post, hope
it remembers which way it went so it doesn't get lost next time. :-D

I am away from home and am relying on dial-up Internet access rather than my

Did you download or install from the web? If you did the latter,
you'll probably need to reinstall.

Hi Kathy,
It seems to me that as you suspect the problem is that your database is
corrupted as a consequence of the download problem. Run Time Error 380 is a
Microsoft error number which often crops up when a program is loading and
the OS cannot find what it is looking for.
On a brighter
To merge selectively, open both files side by side (ViewSplit Screen
View) and drag individuals as desired. Prompts will guide you through
what data are kept and whether family members are merged as well.

The Customize setting for toolbar Icon size only sets the size of the

is why you saw no size change when you tried that.

The training CDs were updated for version 6. Most of the content is the
same. However, some of the screens in the preferences will look different in

Hi all - I finally upgraded to Ver 6 deluxe (and today's update). All
fine so far. I am poking around Research Guidance. I clicked on #3
Suggested Sources, and at the left of the screen is Biographies
highlighted, and on the right is Source Tip. The font is miniscule,

Update - when I clicked on the next source, Bristish Shipping Records,
the font was nice and large. When I clicked back on Biographies, the
text was now large. But I closed research guidance and reopened it,
the font remained tiny in Biographies. Seems like a bug. But I have
the workaround, now.
Susan,
I, too, have intermittently seen this happen, but haven't been able to
successfully duplicate it. We'll keep an eye open for it.
Thanks,

Hi Carol,
What a good friend you are to think it all out and tackle the sorting
out. It's certainly the type of task to produce headaches ;-)
Jonathan suggested split screen - which is great if there aren't too many.
If there are a lot, I'd suggest tagging them and exporting the tagged

From the lack of response can I assume that no action will be taken in this
area? Are GEDCOM export bugs not fixed to make it harder to leave Legacy?

Hi,
I'm a very new user (one month) of Legacy and am trying to build a website.
I exported my file several ways (ancestor and pedigree), which was good
because it enabled me to see all my need-to-be-fixed notes and sources. But
one thing I would like to do and can't: I have lots of Events info
Hello Legacy User Group!
Just wanted to throw out a how to question to the group to see if anyone
can suggest a best practice method for the following issue:
My mother was born with the last name of Soncrant, which is how I entered

I have been away from Legacy deluxe for sometime but own Version 6. I am
disappointed that no changes have been made in the source clipboard to
accommodate ones desire to have more than one source on the clipboard but
still select only one source for the desired event. My workaround
No matter which name or both names you decide to use -- be sure to write
these details as a note to clarify this to future generations .

Hi Beth,
Use the Save button on the Source Clipboard. Then access the saved
sources by right clicking on the Source Clipboard arrow. You can have
up to 10 sources available at a click to add one at a time.
That is, with a right click to open the saved list and a click on the

Thanks Dave and Cathy,
