Re: [Lensfun-users] Lensfun 0.3.2-4: Profile for Ricoh GR III

2019-12-07 Thread Oliver D. Bedford via Lensfun-users
Hi,

this may be totally unrelated, but in my experience the last version of
exiv2 shipped with Ubuntu Bionic is broken. I had to revert back to the
version Pascal de Bruijn

offers in his PPA.

0.25-3.1ubuntu0.18.04.2pmjdebruijn1~bionic works for me (Darktable
recognises Canon EF-M 15-45 attached to Canon EOS M3),

0.25-3.1ubuntu0.18.04.4 does not work

Ubuntu usually upgrades to the latest version automatically...

Regards,
Oliver

Since the last small screenshot was not removed by the list, I append 2
other screenshots.

With 1 you see, that there is a Manufacturer Ricoh and a 2nd one with
"RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD." The GR III is not in the Ricoh section,
which is fine. The camera is recognized automatically, but not the lens.

The 2nd screenshot shows how it looks after the lens was selected
manually.

Re: [Lensfun-users] Lensfun 0.3.2-4: Profile for Ricoh GR III

2019-11-28 Thread Adam Keck
Hi Al,

I may not be correct in this understanding, but I think exiftool is
separate from lensfun. The GR III has a fixed lens so lensfun-based
software (e.g., Darktable) will probably get the lens right once the camera
is detected if your lensfun XML is correct. However exiftool is looking at
the metadata in the GR III image itself - which is either zeroed in GR III
images, or in a format unrecognized by exiftool. There's another metadata
tool called exiv2. Try that as well to see if it recognizes GR III lens
metadata.
