You write that the kernel has successfully mounted the root file
system. Are you sure? This kind of crash is often due to a failure
to mount /. How is the CF card connected physically?
You also write you have no initramfs. I suggest you create one --
then if initialization cannot mount root
Well, JHALFS took some work (see my earlier report) and it took
me four times configuring and building the kernel to get one
which would recognize all the disc drives, but LFS 6.4 now
successfully boots and runs, and I can mount each of my CD-ROM
drives.
