On Windows, we use gdiplus, which is notoriously slow. Optionally
using WPF there might speed things up a bit, haven't looked any
closer yet, though.
IIRC, Cairo also runs on win32, so why not using it instead of gdi+ ?

ACK. Build processes should be as predictable and deterministic as possible.
Optimally, it should be a function (in mathematical terms) with as few
are not installed on the target system.

As a sidenote, the need for openssl is not direct for LO, but
something
needed for dependencies. I wanted to remove openssl altogether and
rely on
nss instead, and you could almost hear the grunts of pain on irc. My
feeling is that this dep is too obscure, so nobody wants to touch
it...

I find it is often well worth engaging the brain before typing at

This was a serious question!

There are ways for Microsoft to promote the Office feature set

This just makes
doubled in size then.
I'm just curious if we've got the same problem in LO.

Not in the case of services rdbs. The information stored there is a

Or, for files that are static in a distributed LO (i.e. not modified

Hi,
Yes, this is indeed a bit of a tragedy. The relevant UNO types and
services bootstrapping code is very old, and concepts are tightly
knit together there, and whenever you want to change something you risk
backwards incompatibility.
Backwards compatibility to whom ? Binaries ? Source ?

Only on esoteric platforms that dont have a package management system.
The right solution is clear: implement an package management there
(maybe just port dpkg/apt) and then just us it.
