I am not creating it from scratch.
It is a document I received via email, and I minimized it to bare bones so I
could just show the bug.
As far as I know - it was produced with Word 2010.
I have Word 2013 and the behavior is the same.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51300] VIEWING: Comments are not readable (shown in white over yellow)

2013-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51300

--- Comment #34 from Noel Power nopo...@novell.com ---
indeed this seems to be something that is happening now in the later gnome3
enabled distros. The
analysis in comment #31 stands ( after debugging again on suse 12.3 where this
is reproducible )

So some info Note text colour is taken from the system help text

http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/vcl/unx/gtk/gdi/salnativewidgets-gtk.cxx#3788

( strange that equivalent the gnome3 specific stuff in
gtk3salnativewidgets-gtk.cxx doesn't seem to get called, it wouldn't make any
difference though in this case ) Also in salnativewidget.cxx the HelpText
background ( used for setting the Notes background is NOT set ) again in this
case it won't make any difference ( because here the Note background doesn't
appear to be populated by a system specific colour code index but by a 'real'
colour value )

Worse still is that the text for the note and the drawing associated with the
note are read in completely different places ( by generic code ) The imported
parts are only pulled together much later to create the note.

see
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sc/source/filter/excel/xiescher.cxx#1739

at this point of the import we could know about the background colour of the
note ( drawing object ) The text colour for the note text is gleaned from the
the text font ( but the text associated with the note could be rich text with
multiple text runs and fonts ) Font related information including the text
colour is read from a document wide buffer iirc, so those records are generic
and nothing to do with the note itself. I suppose it would be possible to post
process and adjust the text colour as necessary ( assuming one can find a
function to compare how suitable a much a background and foreground colour
contrast each other ) There are always I guess going to be problems when one
colour is taken from a system setting and the other is a 'real' setting.

Beyond having some clever colour contrast adjusting code ( which I have no clue
about ) I guess the easiest thing to do is to adjust the the colour chosen for
a colour index ( e.g. EXC_COLOR_NOTETEXT ) in the hope the colour would be a
better match.
However I think that we shouldn't initialise the colours for note text and
background from the system but from libreoffice's own colour settings ( that at
least would hopefully make it more unlikely that a 'default' colour matched
with a real or 'hard' colour would be an unsuitable combination )

I will try to find where that colour information can be accessed and change the
code as appropriate

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64321] New: Letter spacing moves horizontally during EDITING.

2013-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64321

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64321
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Letter spacing moves horizontally during EDITING.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: roanc...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

First use after upgrading to Ubuntu Raring the LibreOffice (Version 4.0.2.2
build ID 400m0(build:2))

While EDITING in web layout letter spacing moves horizontally:
I wrote a few sentences using default style. Then went back to edit a typo in
the previous paragraph. I noticed that, from the insertion point to about ten
letters to the left, all ten letters jumped as a group about four or five
pixels to the left. Adjacent to the cursor a letter was overlapping another.
New letters were not inserted at the chosen position, but off by one character.
I used the arrow keys to move the insertion point lower down the page and begin
editing there. I noticed that the overlap remained on the page.
When I used a mouse click to move the insertion point the misplaced letters all
jumped to their correct places, about four or five pixels rightward.
I selected all (with Ctrl-A) and changed to Text Body. Then I repeated all the
above, with the same result.
My default font is Ubuntu size 12.
I am using xfce4.10 with global menu disabled by uninstall appmenu etc.

Thanks for your prompt answer.

1) Any ODS ODT document does the trick, blank or not, with headers, bullets or
not.

2) Any file of any size loads F*** FAST with LO 3.66. Not most files, any.
Any file of any size loads slooower with LO 4.x.

3) I tested twice the same scenario, one week apart -- thinking I must have
done something wrong.
a) loading from command prompt, hotkey, macro
b) loading from a click selection in IE or q-Dir
c) loading from Recent Documents

My 4.x and 3.x tests involved any series of 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 or 9 files loaded
in the same series of events -- not closing-reopening files ad libitum or ad
nauseam.

The 10-25 seconds of CPU overload at 25% (each core!), happens in LO 4.x only.
Be that with the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th or 9th file (Intel caching, SSD, etc.).
It does not make sense but it is a systematic occurrence on my machine (and a
Ubuntu laptop).
Not on the 3rd time only. Every time I open a file or a series.

I also tested LO4 when installed on my second drive -- 1TB Seagate Barracuda
SATA 6 64MB cache.
Same results.

your workaround solves the exporting to DOC bug, so I'll modify my own
template accordingly

however this is a buggy behaviour because the same empty paragraph is saved
without any change in pixel width if I save the document in ODT format.

the 2 -- 12 pixel change happens just with ODT -- DOC conversion or with
direct DOC saving.

IMHO, the font size should not be changed by saving in DOC but should keep the
same size the user has initially set

by the way I'm setting status as NEW since this issue has been confirmed also
in old OOo releases from which the bug is inherited.

Thanks for taking a look at the bloat file, Michael. I have to say that I have
suffered no similar problems since the early-April flurry. I have used the
several files that went crazy (after correcting them in Excel) and worked with
a few newly-created ones. Current LO version is 4.0.2.2 and I last ran pacman
-Syu for everything on 5/2/2013.

I suppose you can close this out as not reproducible unless you and the crowd
find it intriguing.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for taking a look at the bloat file, Michael. I have to say that I
have suffered no similar problems since the early-April flurry.

You filed vs. 4.0.2 though - which is reasonably recent; if this had got fixed
I guess someone would know. Potentially it's just a bug in LibreOffice whereby
we pick the wrong default for row-hights (or something) and so have to export a
vast number of records for the rest of the whole column (or something).

I have used the several files that went crazy (after correcting them
in Excel) and worked with a few newly-created ones.

Glad to know it's not a huge issue, -but- would really like to get the original
files and a way of reproducing this ! :-)

Thanks !

csv file.
  Severity: critical
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: chad.hen...@gmail.com
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

In modifying my CSV file by deleting rows, and then saving the changes to the
file, LibreOffice corrupts the file. This can be viewed either by simply
reloading via the File-Reload menu, or by closing and then opening the file.
The corruption is as follows. Usually, some component of the file data that
was deleted is appended as additional columnar data, rows, or both.

I use CSV files to load data into my SFDC instance.

A current work-around is to save the file using a different file name. That
appears to prevent the corruption.

Problem description:
When we have a header on the page with a boundary (regardless declared for a
header or a paragraph within header) and there
Steps to reproduce:
1. Add a header to the current page style
2. Header context menu - Border and Backround - add some border
3. Add some formula to the dpcument contents
4. Print the results

Current behavior:
In printout there disappear borders in header but there appear som malformed
'echos' of the border in contents of current and successive pages.

Expected behavior:
They shouldn't appear

Tested both using physical printer and printing to PDF using PDF Creator. These
misbehavior was not observed in LO present Ubuntu 12.04.
The same wrong printing i observed for documents having lower header border

Hmmm, I cant reproduce this in 13.04, I thus suspect this to be a bug in unity
or indicator-appmenu in the precise release.

Obviously, I cant support backports of indicator-appmenu to precise
(LibreOffice alone is enough work), so if this is indeed not happening in
13.04, the only way out might be to disable the unity integration on precise
(thus allowing you to use libreoffice-gtk with a classic menu).

Can you confirm this is no issue in Ubuntu 13.04 (raring)?

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57872
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54730

Seems to be a little tricky to confirm a bug, which could not be reproduced by
step 1
step 2
...

I have tested a database with many tables and forms. Have tested with LO
3.6.0.4 and LO 3.3.4 (my version for working with databases ...). LO 3.6.0.4
could open and close all tables, couldn't open one form and crashes
immediately. This crash I couldn't reproduce with 3.6.6.2, also not with 3.3.4.

I don't know if we should set this bug to unconfirmed, or let the bug in

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 64333] New: UI: Editing a template is obstructed

2013-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64333

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 64333
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: Editing a template is obstructed
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: wolte...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
To save a template over itself (i.e. edit it) one has to type out its exact
name all over.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a blank document
2. Save it as a template (File Save as template)
3. Chose any folder, e.g. My Templates
4. Click on Save

Current behavior:
A text box appears so you enter the file name. If you have an existing template
selected and click on Save, you still get the text box.

Expected behavior:
If you have an existing template selected and click on Save, it should be
interpreted by LibreOffice as a replace action request and act duly.

Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.0.2.2 release

That happens when you copy text and an images exists in the copied text, so
that red characters appears... that are the URL to the link of the images...
that even takes lot of seconds after it show the red chars and then disappear.

Perhaps the most amusing one yet

Well, this bug is no longer about installing or deleting fonts only. I opened
Font Manager, and used it only to open a folder that contained a font (NOT to
install or delete any fonts) and suddenly a document that I had open became
entirely blank. I had trouble taking a screenshot of it, because the bottom bar
became greyed out whenever my pointer reached it.

Clarification: I am NOT referring to the recent documents list available
within Libre Office; I am referring to the list available on the Win 7 start
menu panel. That is, there is some kind of change in the relationship between
Libre Office and Windows if the files were listed in the start panel under LO3
but not LO4.

Just take a document with comments, and print it *with* the comments (end of
page or end of document, doesn't matter). Before every comment, there is a
reference that helps the user. The form is :
Page : a Line : b Author : name
e. g.
Page : 3 Line : 77 Author : Hyogapag

The line corresponds to the number of the line within the *whole* document. So
clearly, it can't help the reader to find the comment in the page (Page 30 Line
770 !!).

I propose that instead the line gives the line number within the page.

Maybe in the menu File, create a new menu entry Insert symbol, as exists in

What do you think?
